Editor's Review

Natural Lamu Beauty Spa, tucked away in the serene atmosphere of Shela, offers a unique, nature-integrated wellness experience. Because it is an open-air facility shielded by curtains rather than a traditional sealed building, the environment is deeply connected to the island breeze, though this means the temperature can fluctuate based on the weather.

For a budget-friendly alternative or a post-spa activity, take a walk along the nearby Shela Beach or browse their dedicated retail shop for their signature handmade balms and perfumes, which are perfect for taking a piece of Lamu home with you without the cost of a full spa treatment.

The Cost: Pricing is competitive for the level of service, with pedicures starting around KSH 3,000 and comprehensive facials or long-form massages averaging KSH 6,000. Always confirm the current rates via their WhatsApp menu before booking as they differ from hotel-listed prices.

The Experience: Visiting here is about slowing down. You will be moving from the garden entrance into an outdoor treatment space. The infrastructure is rustic and authentic to Lamu’s character; expect sand underfoot and a breezy, open-air layout. It is not a clinical, climate-controlled environment, so dress comfortably and prepare for a tactile, grounded experience.

What you can get: Highlights include their signature hot stone massages, aromatherapy baths with muscle-relief bath bombs, and acne-focused facials using locally crafted organic products. Each session typically concludes with a complimentary serving of tea and a cookie.

Natural Lamu is a must-visit for those who appreciate ethical, handmade beauty rituals in an authentic setting. While the open-air design requires you to be mindful of the wind, the professional, friendly service and the high quality of their locally-sourced products make it a standout wellness destination on the island.

Heads Up

Things to Consider

The spa is an open-air setup with curtains, which can get chilly and less private on very windy days; also, nail services are basic compared to high-end urban salons.

We had a beautiful relaxing experience today at the spa. The 90 min facial includes hand and foot massages. The products are great, prices are reasonable and the service professional, friendly. Highly recommended. Thank you team 🤩

I loved the fact that they use natural beauty care products, made in Lamu itself! I did acne facial treatment, and although not suffering from acne, it actually gave me a pimple the next day, so perhaps the chosen products were not suitable for my face. Price-quality was ok (6000 Ksh I believe), as you receive leg and arm massage while waiting for the mask to do its job. The girl was so friendly and sweet. Pedicure was too pricy for what it was (3000Ksh), poor variety of nail polish and the pedicure was not really done using 'professional' tools, but rather the way it's done in 'street boutiques'. The place is really cute and you feel so free because the spa is actually outside (covered by curtains) and you feel the wind breeze. It also means that when I was there it was quite windy so I got a bit chilly and felt less relaxed. After your spa you a get a nice tea and cookie to further relax. Be aware that the location is not at the same place as where they sell their products. I got late, but luckily they understood and didn't remove that time from my treatment (as written in their policy that you have to sign before treatment).

Best oil massage ever. It’s been a long time since I have been able to fall asleep during a massage and they were able to achieve. I wanted a deep tissue massage so they applied more pressure. It was perfect, I didn’t want it to end! Definitely book here! My friend had the reflexology session and also highly recommends. They also accommodated delivering some balms my friend bought to our hotel because they were not available at the time. At the end they give you a cookie and tea. The prices are very good and the service is excellent. I booked via WhatsApp and they send you their current spa menu which was different to the one the hotel had.

Best experience in Lamu! I had heard so many good things about this place that I was really looking forward to experiencing it myself. I decided to go with my partner for a couple's hot stone massage and an aromatherapy bath with a muscle relief bath bomb. After the treatment we were speechless. We ended up buying a few products too. If you are in Lamu, visiting this spa is a MUST!

Fantastic experience. My partner and I had the Hot Stones massage & Bath. It was amazing. We were welcomed in a beautiful and peaceful garden. Then the massage with hot stones was from another world, and the bath so relaxing, we did not want to leave! Highly recommended.

Everything You Need to Know About Discovering Kenya

As we move deeper into 2026, the definition of travel is evolving. No longer content with superficial sightings, the modern traveler seeks depth, purpose, and local engagement. This guide is curated to help you navigate the diverse ecosystems of Kenya—from our high-altitude massifs to our hidden coastal creek retreats and exclusive conservation-first conservancies.

The Wild Heart of the Savannah

In 2026, the best safari isn't the one with the most lion sightings; it's the one in a private conservancy where you're the only vehicle for miles. The Maasai Mara, Samburu, and Tsavo remain the cornerstone of any Kenyan journey. We recommend focusing on the conservancies where private concessions limit vehicle numbers, ensuring a truly intimate encounter with the Great Migration and the rare Northern Species like the Grevy's zebra.

Coastal Serenity & Marine Magic

From the white sands of Watamu to the mystical lanes of Lamu Old Town, the Kenyan coast offers a blend of Swahili heritage and marine biodiversity. 2026 sees a massive surge in kitesurfing and ocean-to-plate dining experiences that prioritize small-scale local fishermen. Discover Diani for world-class luxury and Kilifi for the artistic soul.

The High-Altitude Challenge

Kenya's mountains offer some of the most rigorous and rewarding trekking in Africa. Mt. Kenya, the Aberdares, and the various escarpments of the Rift Valley go beyond the typical safari experience. As the lead authority in Kenyan hiking, we provide essential data on trail conditions, elevation gain, and the best-vetted local guides to ensure your safety and enjoyment.
