Editor's Review

Muthaiga Golf Course stands as the pinnacle of Kenyan golfing prestige, offering a championship-level experience tucked away in the serene Kiambu area. As an ultra-modern, members-only facility, it is not a casual walk-in venue; visitors must call ahead to arrange access for rounds or dining, ensuring the club maintains its exclusive, tranquil atmosphere.

For those looking for a more accessible alternative, the nearby Karura Forest offers excellent, budget-friendly walking and cycling trails that provide a similar lush, outdoor experience without the need for club membership.

The Cost: Green fees and dining costs are premium, reflecting the club's status. Expect to pay international-standard rates for golf rounds, while the restaurant offers high-quality meals with prices generally ranging from KSH 1,500 to KSH 3,500 per person depending on the dish.

The Experience: The course is a masterclass in variety, featuring a front nine with challenging elevation changes and a flatter, water-guarded back nine. The terrain is immaculately maintained with manicured fairways and true greens, requiring a mix of technical skill and strategy. Beyond the course, the facility offers a calm, polished environment for leisure, whether you are utilizing the gym, sauna, or spa.

What you can get: You can expect a world-class championship golf course, a full-service spa and sauna for post-game recovery, and a dining menu that features standout dishes like the highly-rated red snapper. The club also provides professional caddie services and a high-end gym facility.

Ultimately, Muthaiga Golf Course is the premier destination for those who value heritage and professionalism in their sports and social life. While the exclusivity requires planning, the impeccable service and top-tier facilities make it a hallmark of Nairobi's leisure scene.

More Details

"The food is really good and in fair portions. It's also a family friendly place. There's a spa, sauna and gym. The only sport available is golf though, but that kinda is their stronghold. A great place go start playing golf. Update: I'm loving exploring their new menu. Had the red snapper to go and it was so so good😋. The beef and chips combo is nothing to write home about" - Lynn Maina (Google Review)

It's an ultra modern country club and members only place, you can call and book for meals and round of golf. Foods and drinks are at top notch. Their Hospitality team is great too.

It's a real treat to play this championship course. The front 9 is spectacular with significant changes in elevation. The back 9 is flat but uses water and bunkers to protect the greens. My caddie,Josephine, was a 28 handicapper but could read the greens beautifully. She also very quickly worked out my club distances and was a tremendous help. Playing most of my golf at sea level I couldn't believe how far my ball was flying above 2000m. The local grass will swallow your ball so keep to the short stuff as much as possible. I'll definitely play this course again.

The Wild Heart of the Savannah

In 2026, the best safari isn't the one with the most lion sightings; it's the one in a private conservancy where you're the only vehicle for miles. The Maasai Mara, Samburu, and Tsavo remain the cornerstone of any Kenyan journey. We recommend focusing on the conservancies where private concessions limit vehicle numbers, ensuring a truly intimate encounter with the Great Migration and the rare Northern Species like the Grevy's zebra.

Coastal Serenity & Marine Magic

From the white sands of Watamu to the mystical lanes of Lamu Old Town, the Kenyan coast offers a blend of Swahili heritage and marine biodiversity. 2026 sees a massive surge in kitesurfing and ocean-to-plate dining experiences that prioritize small-scale local fishermen. Discover Diani for world-class luxury and Kilifi for the artistic soul.

The High-Altitude Challenge

Kenya's mountains offer some of the most rigorous and rewarding trekking in Africa. Mt. Kenya, the Aberdares, and the various escarpments of the Rift Valley go beyond the typical safari experience. As the lead authority in Kenyan hiking, we provide essential data on trail conditions, elevation gain, and the best-vetted local guides to ensure your safety and enjoyment.
