We truly felt like we had found paradise at Manda Bay Lodge. The location is exceptional and the perfect place to relax after two weeks of safari. Our room was spacious, extremely comfortable, and offered an unbeatable view of the sea. The food was absolutely delicious, fresh, and varied, and the service could not have been better. Dinners under the stars were unforgettable. Our only regret was staying only two nights — it simply wasn’t long enough. The lodge is also very convenient, located less than a 20-minute boat ride from Lamu Airport. We want to sincerely thank the entire team for their wonderful service and attention to detail, which made our stay so memorable. Manda Bay is a place we would return to in a heartbeat.

Lamu is an incredible, special place. Manda Bay is positioned beautifully with stunning views and incredible interiors in the Lamu style. All of the staff are incredibly hard working, kind, and accommodating people - never a day went by without being checked on multiple times or having a laugh. However, the hotel owner should implement some changes to truly reach 5 star status such as having room service, clean water (I did get breakouts from using the salty water on my face/body) - the gym is also completely unacceptable.

Very disappointing. We came with a dhow and wanted to have lunch or some drinks and coffee. The security followed us while walking on the beach and denied acces. The place was empty which I can understand because the whole view is spoiled by the new big port. One of us asked to use the bathroom because there is no bathroom in many miles, but also that was denied by security. Very unwelcoming place. There are much better places in this archipelago.

At Manda Bay you don’t get hospitality, you get bureaucracy with a side of armed guards. Lunch feels less like a welcome and more like crossing a border. If this is their idea of luxury, I’ll happily have lunch elsewhere.

This was our third time back to Manda Bay! We stayed for 9 nights, and as always, it felt totally relaxing and more often like we were the only ones there. It's a total haven. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and everyone is so wonderful and welcoming. The rooms are truly amazing, the facilities leave you wanting for nothing, and the food is SO delicious. Predominantly wonderfully fresh seafood, which was such a treat. They catered so brilliantly for our gluten free son. Dinner in the evening is phenomenal ... Three course meals sitting at tables down on the sand, lit only by candle light and the starry sky above. Palm trees waving gently above you and your toes in the soft sand. You take off your shoes to wade ashore when you arrive, and you don't put them on again until you leave. We enjoyed fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding, water skiing, swimming, snorkelling, eating and drinking and the children were so happy and relaxed there. It's total heaven at Manda Bay and we can't recommend it enough!
