Editor's Review

Mamba Village is one of Mombasa’s long-standing attractions, offering a unique blend of amusement park thrills and a dedicated crocodile farm. While the location is central and easily accessible, visitors should be aware that the infrastructure is dated and currently undergoing maintenance, which may impact the aesthetic appeal of the grounds.

If the admission fee feels steep given the condition of the park, consider focusing your visit strictly on the educational crocodile tour rather than the amusement rides, or explore the nearby public beaches of Nyali for a free, high-quality coastal experience.

The Cost: Entry is approximately KSH 800 per person. Prices for amusement rides are typically charged separately, so carry extra cash or M-Pesa for a full day of activity.

The Experience: Visiting the park is a mix of leisurely walking and structured learning. The pathways are largely paved and accessible for visitors of all ages, including the elderly, with plenty of seating areas provided around the main crocodile enclosures to rest and observe.

What you can see: The park is home to a vast collection of crocodiles, ranging from hatchlings to massive adults, as well as a variety of snakes. Highlights include the opportunity to hold a young crocodile and interactive educational sessions led by knowledgeable guides.

Ultimately, Mamba Village remains a solid choice for a one-time educational outing. While the park lacks modern polish, the friendly staff and the chance to get up close with reptiles provide a memorable experience for curious children and adults alike.

Loved. Loved. Totally loved this experience! Our guide was not only very friendly, but she also discussed so many facts and interesting new learnings about crocodiles and the other repriles they had, with me and my kids as well. It was lovely to watch my children's interest grow, and even after 1.5 hours, they still wanted to learn. I totally recommend Mamba Village. Only caveat is that the structures are old and not so well maintained but this does not take away from the learning experience.

The place is under renovation, infrastructure seems abandoned and the 800/- fee charged is just lost in the wind

The experience was good. It is a one time experience kind of thing. You wouldn't want to visit again. Most of the crocodiles are in hibernation mode so they barely move. I would recommend you to ask ahead of time and visit during feeding time. They do have snakes too and you do get to hold a 2yr old small crocodile. The pathway is accessible to elder people too and there is a seating space once you reach the enclosure compound.

Everything You Need to Know About Discovering Kenya

As we move deeper into 2026, the definition of travel is evolving. No longer content with superficial sightings, the modern traveler seeks depth, purpose, and local engagement. This guide is curated to help you navigate the diverse ecosystems of Kenya—from our high-altitude massifs to our hidden coastal creek retreats and exclusive conservation-first conservancies.

The Wild Heart of the Savannah

In 2026, the best safari isn't the one with the most lion sightings; it's the one in a private conservancy where you're the only vehicle for miles. The Maasai Mara, Samburu, and Tsavo remain the cornerstone of any Kenyan journey. We recommend focusing on the conservancies where private concessions limit vehicle numbers, ensuring a truly intimate encounter with the Great Migration and the rare Northern Species like the Grevy's zebra.

Coastal Serenity & Marine Magic

From the white sands of Watamu to the mystical lanes of Lamu Old Town, the Kenyan coast offers a blend of Swahili heritage and marine biodiversity. 2026 sees a massive surge in kitesurfing and ocean-to-plate dining experiences that prioritize small-scale local fishermen. Discover Diani for world-class luxury and Kilifi for the artistic soul.

The High-Altitude Challenge

Kenya's mountains offer some of the most rigorous and rewarding trekking in Africa. Mt. Kenya, the Aberdares, and the various escarpments of the Rift Valley go beyond the typical safari experience. As the lead authority in Kenyan hiking, we provide essential data on trail conditions, elevation gain, and the best-vetted local guides to ensure your safety and enjoyment.
