Editor's Review

Amani Garden Cafe serves as a serene green oasis tucked away in the heart of Nairobi, offering a quiet retreat from the city's frantic pace. It is easily accessible for anyone navigating the central business district, providing a lush, garden-style environment that feels worlds apart from the nearby concrete jungle.

For those looking for a budget-friendly way to spend their afternoon, the cafe’s garden setting is itself a free attraction, but you can also visit the nearby public parks or local community art galleries if you want to extend your cultural tour of the area without spending extra.

The Cost: There is no entry fee to access the cafe grounds. A typical meal, including a fresh salad, a main course, and a drink, will cost you between KSH 1,000 and KSH 2,000 per person, making it a very reasonably priced destination for the quality provided.

The Experience: Visiting Amani is a relaxing, low-impact experience. The terrain is flat and paved, making it fully accessible for strollers and those who prefer a gentle walk. It is a place designed for sitting, dining, and slow conversation rather than high-energy activity.

What you can get: The menu features excellent vegetarian and gluten-free options, with highlights including their fresh signature salads, crispy chicken, BBQ ribs, and refreshing iced coffees. You can also purchase unique, sustainable African-made gifts that support local refugee initiatives.

Overall, Amani Garden Cafe is a hidden gem that balances great food with a noble cause and a beautiful, calming atmosphere. It is an essential stop for anyone needing a moment of peace and a high-quality meal in the center of town.

The service by the staff was very good. They were very busy but managed to accommodate our group of 9 within 20 mins. The garden settings are beautiful and a delight to sit and enjoy. All the main courses were delicious. My only thing that might have been better were the desserts. The salads, BBQ ribs, samosas and grilled sandwiches all got high marks from everyone in the group. Prices were very reasonable and portions were generous. Mercy our server was very nice and very accommodating.i would definitely recommend a visit.

A few high school classmates and I met here for lunch last Thursday. The location was central and convenient for most of us. The food was tasty and the atmosphere quiet and calm. Nice ambience too. We ordered several salads and the day's lunch special. I will be back

Amani Garden Cafe was incredible! Right as we walked up I knew it was a good choice to come. The grounds were lush with greenery and flowers everywhere you look. The seating was comfortable and the staff was friendly and attentive. They have a large menu - able to accommodate my gluten free needs. I got a salad and it was 10/10! Fresh, and delicious! The chicken was cooked perfectly crispy for the salad. I also got an iced coffee and a chocolate gelato for desert. All together I paid less than 2000 shillings. They also have a gift shop with sustainable items for purchase that supports an incredible cause. I would definitely recommend this place!

Everything You Need to Know About Discovering Kenya

As we move deeper into 2026, the definition of travel is evolving. No longer content with superficial sightings, the modern traveler seeks depth, purpose, and local engagement. This guide is curated to help you navigate the diverse ecosystems of Kenya—from our high-altitude massifs to our hidden coastal creek retreats and exclusive conservation-first conservancies.

The Wild Heart of the Savannah

In 2026, the best safari isn't the one with the most lion sightings; it's the one in a private conservancy where you're the only vehicle for miles. The Maasai Mara, Samburu, and Tsavo remain the cornerstone of any Kenyan journey. We recommend focusing on the conservancies where private concessions limit vehicle numbers, ensuring a truly intimate encounter with the Great Migration and the rare Northern Species like the Grevy's zebra.

Coastal Serenity & Marine Magic

From the white sands of Watamu to the mystical lanes of Lamu Old Town, the Kenyan coast offers a blend of Swahili heritage and marine biodiversity. 2026 sees a massive surge in kitesurfing and ocean-to-plate dining experiences that prioritize small-scale local fishermen. Discover Diani for world-class luxury and Kilifi for the artistic soul.

The High-Altitude Challenge

Kenya's mountains offer some of the most rigorous and rewarding trekking in Africa. Mt. Kenya, the Aberdares, and the various escarpments of the Rift Valley go beyond the typical safari experience. As the lead authority in Kenyan hiking, we provide essential data on trail conditions, elevation gain, and the best-vetted local guides to ensure your safety and enjoyment.
