Editor's Review

Whistling Morans in Athi River is the premier destination for motorsport enthusiasts and those looking to blow off steam in a high-octane environment. Located just off the main highway, it serves as a massive playground for speed demons, though visitors should note that the facility is best reached by private car as public transport drops you quite a distance from the gate.

If karting feels like a splurge, the facility features a large aquapark and swimming pool area which is significantly more budget-friendly. It is a great way to cool down after a heated racing session without breaking the bank.

The Cost: Entry to the grounds is free, allowing you to enjoy the atmosphere and restaurant. Karting sessions generally cost between KES 1,500 and 2,500 per session. Food is reasonably priced with casual dining options starting from KES 800 per plate.

The Experience: The facility is built for movement and action. The karting track is professionally paved with wide, sweeping curves and long straights designed for speed. The terrain is well-maintained, though the environment is industrial and rugged, so casual, comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes are essential for safety and comfort.

What you can get: You can get a high-adrenaline go-karting experience, access to a refreshing water park, and a variety of hearty meals and drinks at the on-site restaurant. It is a fantastic spot for watching live F1 and motorsport broadcasts on big screens.

Whistling Morans manages to balance a professional racing environment with a fun, social vibe. While the equipment can occasionally feel a bit worn, the sheer thrill of the track and the welcoming staff make it a top-tier destination for anyone wanting to test their driving skills in a safe, controlled environment.

Things to Consider

Some karts show signs of heavy use, so ask the staff to test the throttle and steering for you before you pay for your session.

I went to Whistling Moran absolutely convinced I was going to dominate the track and leave with a shiny imaginary trophy. In my head, I was already Lewis Hamilton’s understudy. In reality… let’s just say my “racing skills” are better suited for navigating Nairobi traffic at rush hour. 😅 From the moment I arrived, the place had an exciting buzz — the hum of engines, the smell of tyres on the track, and that electric feeling that you’re about to have some serious fun. The staff were amazing from the get-go: friendly, professional, and clearly passionate about making sure everyone has the best possible experience. They gave me safety instructions and even some tips to go faster (I thanked them, but those tips must have gone in one ear and out the other mid-race). The track itself is fantastic — wide lanes, sharp curves, and long stretches that let the faster drivers really fly. The go-karts are comfortable, responsive, and quick enough to give you that thrilling rush without ever feeling unsafe. Everything about the setup feels well-maintained and professional. Now, about the race… I started strong, overtook one driver early on, and thought, “This is my moment.” But within minutes, I was getting passed left, right, and centre. At some point, I’m pretty sure even the staff were lapping me. But here’s the thing — it didn’t matter one bit. The laughter, the adrenaline, the sheer joy of zipping around that track made “losing” feel completely irrelevant. Whether you’re a competitive speed demon or just out for a fun day with friends and family, Whistling Moran is a five-star experience all the way. It’s perfect for birthdays, team building, date days, or just blowing off some steam. You leave with your heart racing, your cheeks hurting from smiling, and already planning when you’ll come back. 📍 Whistling Moran – where even last place feels like a win. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Highly recommend!

Decent. the carts could use a little bit more of some love in terms of maintenance and service but all in all the experience isn't bad and the track is great.

Everything You Need to Know About Discovering Kenya

As we move deeper into 2026, the definition of travel is evolving. No longer content with superficial sightings, the modern traveler seeks depth, purpose, and local engagement. This guide is curated to help you navigate the diverse ecosystems of Kenya—from our high-altitude massifs to our hidden coastal creek retreats and exclusive conservation-first conservancies.

  • Vetted 2026 Travel Rates & Tips
  • Sustainable & Carbon-Neutral Stays
  • Exclusive Hidden Gem Itineraries

The Wild Heart of the Savannah

In 2026, the best safari isn't the one with the most lion sightings; it's the one in a private conservancy where you're the only vehicle for miles. The Maasai Mara, Samburu, and Tsavo remain the cornerstone of any Kenyan journey. We recommend focusing on the conservancies where private concessions limit vehicle numbers, ensuring a truly intimate encounter with the Great Migration and the rare Northern Species like the Grevy's zebra.

Coastal Serenity & Marine Magic

From the white sands of Watamu to the mystical lanes of Lamu Old Town, the Kenyan coast offers a blend of Swahili heritage and marine biodiversity. 2026 sees a massive surge in kitesurfing and ocean-to-plate dining experiences that prioritize small-scale local fishermen. Discover Diani for world-class luxury and Kilifi for the artistic soul.

The High-Altitude Challenge

Kenya's mountains offer some of the most rigorous and rewarding trekking in Africa. Mt. Kenya, the Aberdares, and the various escarpments of the Rift Valley go beyond the typical safari experience. As the lead authority in Kenyan hiking, we provide essential data on trail conditions, elevation gain, and the best-vetted local guides to ensure your safety and enjoyment.
