Editor's Review

Chester House Swimming Pool is a hidden urban sanctuary tucked away on the fourth floor of a building along Koinange Street, just off Kenyatta Avenue. It offers a rare, peaceful retreat from the frantic pace of Nairobi's Central Business District, providing a clean and accessible space for those looking to get some laps in without leaving the city center.

If you are looking for a more public green space nearby, the iconic Central Park is just a short walk away, offering a great spot for a stroll or people-watching if you prefer to stay on dry land after your swim.

The Cost: Swimming is priced at a flat rate of KSH 500 for adults, which must be paid in cash. Dining options at the hotel are reasonably priced, with meals averaging between KSH 700 and KSH 950, and local beers available for KSH 300.

The Experience: Visiting feels like stepping into a private oasis; the environment is remarkably quiet and rarely crowded. The infrastructure is fully accessible, including elevator access to the fourth floor, and the changing rooms are kept clean with the added luxury of hot water showers.

What you can get: You can enjoy a well-maintained, private swimming pool, professional swimming instruction available upon request, clean shower facilities, and a comfortable lounge area with a panoramic view of the Nairobi skyline and Central Park.

Overall, Chester House is an excellent choice for a budget-friendly, convenient swim in the city. While the lack of lockers means you should keep your valuables close, the friendly staff and the quiet atmosphere make it a top-tier spot for a lazy Sunday afternoon.

The swimming pool is conveniently located on the fourth floor of the building with clean changing rooms which have hot water showers. The pool is not crowded as we were practically alone. The lounge area is very comfortable overlooking a beautiful Nairobi CBD skyline and Central Park and the swimming pool ideal for a Sunday lazy afternoon with friends or family. The charges for swimming are KSH 500/-. The food averages between KSH 700/- and KSH 950/-... Local beers @ KSH 300/-. The staff are very friendly and welcoming always ready to help. The place has ample and very secure parking spaces. The hotel is wheelchair acceptable. They only accept cash payments for the swimming fee whereas the other services within the hotel can be paid via M-PESA or Visa.

Great place in the heart of CBD, easily accessible and clean pool though cold. There's always a life guard in charge, payment is Ksh. 500 and you can also find a swimming instructor at an extra cost. There's only one changing room, one bathroom and 4 toilets. No safety lockers available, so you need to take care of your luggage. In general it's a good choice for swimming pool in the CBD

As we move deeper into 2026, the definition of travel is evolving. No longer content with superficial sightings, the modern traveler seeks depth, purpose, and local engagement. This guide is curated to help you navigate the diverse ecosystems of Kenya—from our high-altitude massifs to our hidden coastal creek retreats and exclusive conservation-first conservancies.

The Wild Heart of the Savannah

In 2026, the best safari isn't the one with the most lion sightings; it's the one in a private conservancy where you're the only vehicle for miles. The Maasai Mara, Samburu, and Tsavo remain the cornerstone of any Kenyan journey. We recommend focusing on the conservancies where private concessions limit vehicle numbers, ensuring a truly intimate encounter with the Great Migration and the rare Northern Species like the Grevy's zebra.

Coastal Serenity & Marine Magic

From the white sands of Watamu to the mystical lanes of Lamu Old Town, the Kenyan coast offers a blend of Swahili heritage and marine biodiversity. 2026 sees a massive surge in kitesurfing and ocean-to-plate dining experiences that prioritize small-scale local fishermen. Discover Diani for world-class luxury and Kilifi for the artistic soul.

The High-Altitude Challenge

Kenya's mountains offer some of the most rigorous and rewarding trekking in Africa. Mt. Kenya, the Aberdares, and the various escarpments of the Rift Valley go beyond the typical safari experience. As the lead authority in Kenyan hiking, we provide essential data on trail conditions, elevation gain, and the best-vetted local guides to ensure your safety and enjoyment.
